Run2bu has been running for nearly 10 years now, I started it shortly after going part time from my job in training and development for John Lewis. I was keen to do more coaching both with athletics and more broadly in personal development.
I have been coaching athletics for about 15 years and started as a result of getting more involved in running myself when I stopped playing football. I have always been interested in the science behind any sport and so it was a natural progression for me to train to be a coach alongside my own interest in running.
I am a club runner and have completed 17 marathons with a PB of 3.06 which was run some time ago. I have never quite cracked the elusive sub 3 but do believe that if I had applied myself differently earlier on and even had focussed a little more on athletics as well as football as a child I could have been a lot better.
So now I’m passionate about supporting others to be the best they can be and to offer some of the guidance and support which I felt was lacking for me as a youngster. I offer individual 1-1 training programmes that focus on an individual's goals and are geared to fit in with their commitments and lifestyle. I also do one-off mentoring sessions where I would review an athlete’s training and offer suggestions and advice and sometimes watch the athlete train.
I live on the edge of Colchester in Essex with my girlfriend, who is also a runner, and my daughter who has just started school and loves it. I also coach the men’s elite senior group at Colchester Harriers.
